19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
